BUSINESS IMAGING SYSTEMS RELEASES NEW SOFTWARE: REMITTANCE
PROCESSING FOR KOFAX ASCENT CAPTURE
BIS, Kofax, A2iA and Seac Banche Partner to Deliver End-to-End Remittance Solution
OKLAHOMA CITY, Dec. 17, 2003 -
Business Imaging Systems, Inc., a provider of document management systems, software and consulting services, today announced the release of MasterScan, a robust check processing application that runs on the industry-leading "operating system of capture," Kofax Ascent Capture®. MasterScan brings the normally proprietary world of check processing into the industry standard platform for information capture, Ascent.
Kofax Ascent enables companies to collect large volumes of forms and documents, transform them into useful, retrievable electronic information, and deliver it all into a variety of workflow and document management systems.
Seac Banche (www.seacbanche.com), an international manufacturer of check processing hardware, provides companies with desktop check scanners and encoders used to capture images and MICR information as the check is scanned. MasterScan allows users to select commonly available MICR fields and associate them with the appropriate Ascent index fields. This functionality provides the ability to capture items directly into Kofax Ascent while automatically inserting indexing values, such as account number, routing number, check number and amount.
"Together, Kofax Ascent and MasterScan provide new functionality for organizations that require a complete end-to-end remittance processing solution. The solution features distributed exception handling, forms processing for structured and unstructured documents, and output to virtually any legacy system," said Dan Rotelli, president of Business Imaging Systems. "The vast collection of release scripts for Ascent will enable us to add this solution as a front end to almost any content management system."
Using A2iA CheckReader Custom Module for Ascent Capture (www.a2ia.com) to automatically capture the courtesy and legal amounts on checks, batches can be balanced before and after the check items go through the validation step to ensure accuracy. A2iA CheckReader also recognizes additional fields on checks, including date, payer and payee names, address block and signature presence. A2iA's software is able to automatically read natural, freeform cursive handwritten and machine-printed documents, including business and personal checks, deposit slips, and cash-in and cash-out documents, which reduces the laborious processing time.
"Kofax is pleased to be working with Business Imaging Systems to provide a solution that, for the first time, enables customers to economically and reliably capture and process checks," said Anthony Macciola, Kofax vice president of marketing. "By leveraging Ascent's world-class image processing technology, this new software virtually eliminates the time-consuming procedures involved in manually processing checks. The direct benefit to a company's productivity and bottom line can be significant."
