BUSINESS IMAGING SYSTEMS RECOGNIZED AT AIIM 2005 WITH CHANNEL
CONNECTION AWARDS FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR
Second Award in Government Category Reinforces Commitment
to Government Agencies
OKLAHOMA CITY, May 24, 2005 - Business Imaging Systems, Inc., a provider of document management systems, software and consulting services, today announced that the company was presented with multiple awards at the AIIM Conference and Exposition last week in Philadelphia. For the second consecutive year, Business Imaging Systems was recognized with a Channel Connection Award from Business Solutions for an Innovative Government Installation. This year, the company was also recognized for an Innovative Banking Installation.
Business Imaging Systems was named the finalist in the government category for the design and implementation of a content management and distributed scanning solution at the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture. The company seamlessly integrated technology from Canon, EMC Documentum, Kofax and Kelly Registration Systems, as well as their own MasterScan software, to capture and manage state-issued agricultural and pesticide licenses, and a variety of other documentation within the department.
According to Sancho Dickinson, director of the Plant Industry and Consumer Services division at the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, a document imaging solution was needed because "we had run out of file cabinets and places to store file cabinets, and we had run out of boxes and places to store boxes." The new solution has resulted in paper elimination, disaster recovery readiness, business process automation, and ultimately, improved customer service.
This recognition follows on the heels of Business Imaging Systems' first place award victory in the same category at AIIM 2004 for a child support court case file management solution the company implemented at the Oklahoma Department of Human Services - a project that also received the prestigious Oklahoma Governor's Commendation Award last year.
"Our Channel Connection Award recognition in the government category two years in a row is a testament to our commitment to helping government agencies and higher education institutions manage documents and data, and streamline business processes," said Dan Rotelli, president of Business Imaging Systems. "Although we work with businesses in all industries, we have been able to offer government agencies efficient and affordable alternatives to managing their paper. In particular, our high level of experience - coupled with three regional offices and a contract with the State of Oklahoma - makes it very easy for Oklahoma-based agencies to work with us."
In addition to the two organizations named above, Business Imaging Systems' government client roster includes Cleveland County Treasurer, Oklahoma; Collier County, Florida; Howard County, Maryland; Oklahoma County Court Clerk; Oklahoma State University; the State of Alabama; University of Colorado; University of Oklahoma; the U.S. Army; the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs; and the U.S. Department of Justice; among others.
Business Imaging Systems was also named the Channel Connection Award finalist in the banking category for the design and implementation of a check imaging solution at Texas-based Union Square Federal Credit Union. The microfilm replacement solution relies on check scanners from Canon and a storage area network from EMC, along with EMC Documentum ApplicationXtender, EMC Documentum ERMXtender and BIS MasterScan, to capture, store, retrieve, and manage checks and other teller window documentation. Ultimately, the solution has set the regional credit union up for check image exchange under Check 21.
Business Imaging Systems was the only company to receive two Channel Connection Awards.
"Behind every successful implementation is an experienced team with a commitment to excellence in product, service and support. This team reaches far beyond our sales and technical personnel; our partners and customers also played key roles in these award-winning solutions," said Rotelli. "Without the superior products developed by our valued partners, and the insight and support exhibited by our customers, these installations would not be as successful and as essential today as they have become to these organizations."
